Why? Our screening and assessment have been introduced to benefit both our students and the airlines. It ensures the airline is getting a pilot who fits their organization and furthermore that the future student has the motivation and skills required to complete the training and get an airline job afterward.
Where? Our screening and assessment can be completed from anywhere in the world as they are web-based. For airline cadet programs it is mandatory to take the test at our screening center in Iceland. The screening consists of several modules and has therefore been divided into two days on site.
What will be tested?
Day 1 consists of:
- Computer-based psychometric
Covering: Cognitive behavior and professional interest assessment.
- Computer-based pilot aptitude
Covering: Reaction speed, monitoring ability, complex control, spatial orientation and multi-tasking.
- English proficiency
Covering: Ability of the student to follow instructions in English.
Day 2 consists of:
- An individual interview. The interview will be a one-on-one interview with a professional interviewer. The interviewer will cover different aspects relating to the tests you have done the day before as well as a series of personal questions in order to get to know you as a person.
Our psychometric tests are done on the `Great People Inside platform (GR8PI) which has been designed to provide a comprehensive assessment of the candidate’s behavioral traits, cognitive skills, as well as general interest in the aviation industry.
How do I receive an invitation to the assessment and screening?
There are four steps you have to go through in order the become a student pilot at Keilir Aviation Academy – And the whole journey to become an airline pilot starts with an online registration on www.aviationacademy.is/online-application.
How do I prepare for the assessment and screening?
Aptitude and psychometric testing can sound overwhelming, but they are simply hurdles to overcome in your pursuit to become a professional pilot – and it is better to familiarize yourself with them at the beginning of your career than to wait until you sit at your first airline interview. While we want to build a realistic profile of your abilities and your personality, we still urge you to prepare for the assessment. Do some research on the above-mentioned indicators to get an idea of what and how to practice. Make sure you are well rested for the test and bring a positive attitude.
We wish you the best of luck with the assessment and screening process. If you have any questions do not hesitate to contact us.
