Flight Crew Training

As the leading ATO in the Nordic market we know what it takes to transform an “ab-initio” pilot into an “airline ready pilot”. We use highly experienced airline pilots as instructors and company SOP´s from the first day of training. In combination with evidence-based training and close monitoring of progress our training will allow the cadet to transition easily into a modern airline. Our cadet programs are set up to improve your crew planning, reducing your operational risk and increase your flexibility. Growing fast or at a steady pace? No problem. We can make your pilot recruitment sustainable.

Being located in the Nordic region our self-sponsored cadet programs benefit from governmental student support in Iceland, Denmark and Sweden where the students are entitled up to € 62000.

Flight crew screening and personality profiling

Knowing in advance that you will end up with the personality and skills you are looking for is not only reducing your operational risks but proven to be cost effective. At Keilir Aviation Academy we offer complete airline screening and profiling packages ensuring your future employee is the right match for you.

Aircraft fleet

Keilir Aviation Academy has a fleet consisting entirely of state-of-the-art Diamond aircraft. In contrast to many other flight schools that utilize older aircraft, our planes are up to 50% more fuel-efficient. This is one of the reasons that we can offer training with a very competitive price tag.

From the moment I started my flight training, I felt like a part of a family. Everybody at Keilir Aviation Academy make everyone feel welcome, they help you create high ambitious goals and most importantly help you achieve them.

A better surrounding for study is hard to find, and I will be forever grateful for everything they gave me.

I started the professional pilot program at Keilir Aviation Academy in the spring 2013 and finished the program in summer 2015. The landscape in Iceland is amazing and it was fantastic to get an opportunity to explore it from above. Offering training in a challenging and beautiful environment with experienced and motivated instructors made the choice easy for me. Keilir Aviation Academy was just the place I was looking for. I’ve made friends for life and I highly recommend Keilir Aviation Academy to anyone looking to pursue a career as a commercial pilot.

I started the Advanced Training Program at Keilir Aviation Academy in the autumn of 2013 and finished summer 2014. A few weeks later I had the first airline interview and after half a year I flew the Boeing 737 for the first time and this is now what I do daily. I am very happy about my time at Keilir and Iceland.

Keilir Aviation Academy offered flexible training, good prices, motivated instructors, good resources and modern visions. In Iceland, you get exposed to all kinds of weather conditions and challenging environments that makes it perfect for training. Just the option of flight school I was looking for.

I was 24 years old when I started at Keilir Aviation Academy in 2012. Moving to a new country and starting a new education took me out of my comfort zone. However, this was also one of the main reasons why I initially decided to go. To have a chance in the aviation industry you must be ready to move and adapt to new cultures.

My time in Iceland helped me achieve that and I think that was a huge advantage when I did my first job interview. I do not regret one second that I chose Keilir Aviation Academy.  I met some fantastic people that are now among my best friends.

I started my training with Keilir Aviation Academy in the winter of 2013, the Icelandic winter really tested my pilot skills but at the end of my training, I felt confident and fully prepared for my skills tests. My instructors were both airline pilots, flying the B747 and A320 so their training was impeccable when I went on to do my Instrument Rating. Overall, I had an awesome time in Iceland, from start to finish the service from the school, instructors and examiners was outstanding.

I am now flying for a corporate operator on the Citation Mustang based in Europe, to be honest, the cockpit of the Mustang is not that much different to Keilir’s training aircraft!

I was one of the first to graduate as a commercial pilot from Keilir Aviation Academy.  My experience with Keilir Aviation Academy was outstanding and I can highly recommend it. The modern fleet, experienced instructors and motivated atmosphere are only a few examples of the many benefits which have helped me in my career.

After graduation, I flew the Boeing 737 for a few years and today I fly the Boeing 757 and 767 for Icelandair.

I was one of the first Scandinavian students doing the flight training in Iceland. Moving to a new country was a big step, but the Icelandic citizens are very friendly and the society is similar to what I was used to in Sweden. After completion of the pilot training, I worked as a flight instructor before I started flying the Boeing 737-800.

Iceland constantly delivers challenges, both weather-related and personal but looking back I enjoyed every second of it.

2013 I started at Keilir Aviation Academy and in the summer of 2015 I got my commercial license. After finishing at Keilir I felt very well prepared and motivated for my first job. Now I fly the ATR 72-600 as first officer and the feeling of working with my greatest hobby is amazing.
The professional staff, challenging environmental conditions along with flying the brand new fleet at a lower price than other flight schools made the choice easy for me. Since my first visit to the school I felt like it matched my ambitions and I don’t regret going to Iceland
